The Ebenezer Baptist Church Discipleship Ministry is a three year ministry which is paralleled to Jesus’ ministry here on earth.
The Rev. Charlotte W. Evans is the Minister of Discipleship.
Classes are held from September to June: Tuesday’s 6:15 p.m. – 8:00 and Saturday’s 10:00-12 noon
OBJECTIVES OF THE DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY
The Discipleship Ministry objectives are to have its participants achieve the following:
Complete the program in three (3) years;
Perceive a biblical definition of discipleship;
Complete assigned workbook and any additional reading material to enhance weekly lesson;
Learn and use the five disciplines of discipleship:
Reading the Word of God
Meditating on the Word of God
Studying the Word of God Memorizing the Word of God
Hearing the Word of God
Memorize, internalize and apply Scriptures;
Move from a self-centered life to a God-centered life by applying the Word of God to everyday living;
Develop a consistent prayer life;
Complete mission projects;
Serve as a productive member of a ministry;
Become leaders who model Christ; and
Create an atmosphere of Christian fellowship.
MISSION OF THE DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY
The mission of the Discipleship Ministry comes directly from the Word of God in Matthew 28:19-20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of age.’
PROFILE OF THE MASTER DISCIPLE
One who has a growing knowledge of the Scriptures and basic theology, and how to make it applicable to life.
One who has a regular devotional time with the Lord and is committed to corporate worship.
One who has committed to following Biblical principles of tithing and gives joyously of his or her resources of time and talents.
One who actively participates in the life of the church and is involved in small group encounters.
One who is actively seeking to win the lost for Christ
One who understands his or her gifts in the Spirit
One who loves the Lord and His people and is committed to fulfilling His will in the world.
One who has a spirit of love and peace that radiates as power.
One who accepts humbly who he or she is in the Lord.
One who is actively committed to a personal outreach and involvement with social issues that effectuate positive change.
You are on the path toward becoming A MASTER DISCIPLE! It takes time and diligence to become a master, so don’t be alarmed. Take a clue from the original disciples. They were ordinary men who acquired extraordinary power. Each came to the ministry with “baggage”. Each grew in stature during his “walk “with Jesus.
